CERES Incursion
2B had an incursion in the second Performing Arts room on Thursday 22nd of October at 9.30am.
Firstly we learnt about where our rubbish goes and about landfills. We learnt that the rubbish goes into landfills and it stays there forever! The soil gets poisoned and the animals die because there is no shelter, no food and there is no grass or trees for animals to live in because the soil is poisoned and plants can’t grow!
Secondly we learnt all about the 4R’s! These are Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink! Ryan and Ayan were shopping and had to make a choice to reduce the amount of rubbish we could make! They had to choose between a plastic bottle or a glass bottle. The better option was the glass bottle because it can be recycled forever but plastic can only be recycled 7 times!
Thirdly we learnt how important worms are to people, plants, animals and soil! Worms turn scraps into compost! Worms make juice for the garden and they are always recycling food scraps and making our soil healthy! We were able to hold a worm and we had to be very quiet when holding the worms. Did you know that worms have no eyes, they only use their senses to feel where they are. Some people thought the worms slimy and good for the environment!
The whole class liked the incursion because we got to hold worms and we learnt SO much about the environment! We had great great fun at the incursion!!!! 🙂
