Procedural Texts

2B from ACPS have done a very good job at writing procedural texts in October. 2B have learnt a lot from their procedural texts. People have taught each other how to do things they didn’t know.

First we read A LOT of procedural texts in reading and we started to follow the procedures that we read! We learnt how to make an alphabet cat, a dinosaur spelling list and a friendship chain. We had to notice the features like the action verbs, adverbs, time connectives, method, aim, title and materials.

Secondly we had a procedural text that we had to put in order. We had to think about what went first and what went last. We knew what went first because we looked at the pictures and we used our prior knowledge. We also followed the structure of a procedural text to put our pictures in the right order.

Lastly we were able to write our own procedural texts in our books to teach someone how to do something they didn’t know. We had to think about our audience and who it was going to be for. Then we started to write our procedural text. Some people taught each other how to do the monkey bars, how to make a craft, how to get dressed and how to listen on the floor. Mrs Malloch taught us how to make a Hairy Harry!

We felt really happy and we learnt how to do some things we didn’t know how to do before. We liked learning about procedural texts because it was really fun and we learnt a lot!
